Custom Indigo Chambray Cotton Fabric - Premium Quality for DIY Sewing, Quilting & Home Decor Projects

This indigo-dyed chambray is made in Italy with almost equal parts linen and cotton, and it's been one of our go-to fabrics since day one. Out of all of the swatches we offer, it’s the one that takes on the most dramatic patina over time — it starts out crisp and deep blue, but as you continue to wash and wear it, the blue gets lighter, the finish gets softer, and the dye kinda pools in the seams and corners. Note: With any true indigo fabric like this one, there’s a risk of color transfer — called ‘crocking’ — in which some of the blue rubs off on light-colored fabrics or your skin. This effect is most pronounced the first time you wear it, but it usually comes out in the washing machine or the shower. It’s inherent to natural indigo dye, and it’s part of what makes those garments fade so beautifully over time. Still, for the first few wears, we recommend laundering separately and staying away from light-colored upholstery.
